We’ve received an application to vary an environmental permit from Vantage Data Centres.

Variation application to an environmental permit under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016.

Regulated facility type: Installation - Section 1.1 A(1) (a) : Burning any fuel in an appliance with a rated thermal input of 50 megawatts or more
Regulated facility location: Imperial Park, Celtic Way, Marshfield, Newport, NP10 8BE

The Operator has applied to change the engine specifications of some of the site’s back-up generators as a result of generator design developments. The new proposed generators include abatement to reduce air quality impacts. The engines are to only be operated for planned testing or emergency use during a power supply outage as per the existing permit. 

The application contains a full description of how the proposed changes may affect the installation; the materials, substances and energy it will use and generate; the conditions of its site; the source, nature and quantity of its foreseeable emissions and their potential impact, the proposed techniques for preventing, reducing, and monitoring its emissions and preventing and recovering waste; and an outline of the main alternatives, if any, considered
