Announcement of intention not to prepare an environmental statement - Leckwith Bridge industrial estate

(Regulation 5 of the Environmental Impact Assessment (Land Drainage Improvement Works) Regulations 1999 as amended by SI 2005/1399 and SI 2006/618

Natural Resources Wales gives notice that it proposes to carry out improvement works to the flood defences on the River Ely in Leckwith, Cardiff at Leckwith Bridge Industrial Estate, north of Leckwith Road (B4267) between grid references NGR ST 15912 75229and NGR ST 15758 75430. The proposed improvement works will involve small scale ground level raising and two short stretches of flood wall (6.5 metres total, maximum height 0.8m) along an approximate 250m stretch of the west bank of the River Ely.

Drainage involving a number of gulleys, pipework, and headwalls to the river will also be installed to ensure surface water drains to the river from the newly raised areas.

Natural Resources Wales has undertaken an environmental appraisal and considers that the proposed works are not likely to have a significant effect on the environment and does not, therefore, intend to prepare an Environmental Statement in respect of the works.

Any person or body who wishes to make representations to Natural Resources Wales in relation to the likely environmental impact of the proposed improvement works must do so in writing, to the offices of Natural Resources Wales at the address below, within 28 days of the date of publication of this notice.
