NRW opens new catering concession opportunities at popular outdoor destinations
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) has launched a new opportunity for mobile food and drink businesses to support and enhance some of the nation’s best-loved outdoor locations.
NRW is inviting bids for nine mobile catering concessions able to provide hot and/or cold food and beverages across a series of well‑used forests and woodlands that attract thousands of walkers, cyclists, families and nature enthusiasts each year. Successful vendors will demonstrate a clear commitment to reducing food miles, eliminating single‑use plastics, and adopting greener operational practices.
Concessions will be available at the following sites:
- Forest Fawr, Caerphilly
- Llantrisant Woods
- Hafren Forest
- Tan y Coed, Machynlleth
- Newborough (2 opportunities)
- Coed y Brenin
- Van Road, Rudry
- Chepstow Park Woods
Further sites will be announced in later this year.
NRW manages around 40% of the Welsh Forest Resource, covering an area of 123,000 hectares and is seeking like‑minded partners who can help enrich visitor experiences while championing environmentally responsible trading.
Sustainable energy use, responsible waste management and high environmental standards will form key elements of every proposal.
Neil Stoddart, Head of Sustainable Commercial Development for NRW, said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity for catering businesses to operate in vibrant, high‑footfall outdoor settings while contributing directly to the protection and enjoyment of Wales’s natural environment.
“We are looking for enthusiastic partners who can deliver great service, present their units to the highest standards, and play an active role in caring for these special places.”
The tender process opened on Monday, 2 February 2026. The concessions will be awarded through a competitive tender process, with full details available in NRW’s Invitation to Quote.
