We do this by using our own hydrometric data, together with data provided by the Met Office and water companies. We produce a monthly water situation report by the 15th of each month. It includes, for the previous month:
- the amount of rain that falls in different catchments
- how dry that soils are and how much rain they can soak up for different areas (grids)
- the amount of water flowing in different rivers
- the amount of water stored below ground in aquifers and above ground in reservoirs
Our measured and updated river and sea levels across Wales from our monitoring stations along the rivers and the coast are available online.
For the next three months information on water situation can be found from Hydrological Outlook UK
The latest and previous water situation reports are available below:
Until further notice, we will not be able to produce our monthly water situation report. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. If you have any queries, please contact WREPP@naturalresourceswales.gov.uk
Information for sites in Wales is available from Centre of Ecology & Hydrology via their monthly hydrological summary. In addition, further data is available through CEH’s Drought portal.
