As an organisation we support flexible working. This role allows hybrid working (a mix of home and office working) and a working pattern suitable for you can be discussed on appointment if you are successful.
You will be contracted to the nearest NRW office to your home, of which you will be required to attend for regular meetings, training and for one-to-one meetings with your manager. These will be planned in advance.
Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Training and Learning team in NRW, the post holder will play a key role within the team. Our people require a wide range of training to ensure they have the right skills at the right time to enable them to carry out their role and maintain competencies. You will be required to provide internal advice on courses and suitability, you will deal with external suppliers daily, making bookings, confirming purchase orders and dealing with attendance lists, certificates and evaluation forms.
You will support our Welsh Language learners through their learning experience by providing information of courses available to them, liaising with tutors, maintaining records and by promoting learning Welsh within NRW.
Working closely with Managers and Staff you will be responsible for ensuring contracts are in place to meet the training needs of the business by utilising existing frameworks and developing new tenders. You will also support the training and learning needs of the business by co-ordinating the identification of training needs and the development, delivery and evaluation of learning and development programmes.

- A good understanding of IT systems and be proficient in use of Microsoft Office
- Have good organisational skills and the ability to multitask
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal/external customers and suppliers
- Demonstrate initiative and have excellent attention to detail
- Be able to work as part of wider team and follow instructions
- Experience of working effectively to multiple deadlines within a busy office environment.
The role is part of the Organisational Development Function, that sits within the Corporate Strategy & Development Directorate. Reporting into the Wellbeing Health and Safety Manager, this role will be managed by the Team Leader Training & Learning.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include:
- To deliver the learning plan ensuring best value for money.
- Ensure any training programme being delivered is meeting the business needs.
- Promote NRW training programme to staff so they are aware of availability of training courses including how to enrol.
- Ensure L&D intranet pages are kept up to date and staff informed of developments.
- Ensure post course evaluations are monitored and used with suppliers to ensure training are fit for purpose.
- Using user requirement draft tender specification and assist with the evaluation of the tenders evaluations.
- Establish training contracts and ensure training ids best value for money.
- Develop learning schedule to inform the business of when training is available.
- Maintain records and information in line with regulations/ legislation and agreed standards ensuring training records are kept up to date.
Qualifications, experience and knowledge
Knowledge and experience of the following:
- Experience of working with teams across the business and managing competing priorities
- Experience of tender process and drafting Training requirements
- Good organisational skills and excellent planning
Welsh language requirements
Essential: Level 4 – Fluent in spoken Welsh
